The role

This is a hands-on role combining café service with baking. You’ll help with the day-to-day running of the café while taking an active part in producing our cakes, banana bread and other baked treats.

Your responsibilities will include

• Baking cakes, banana bread and other café treats
• Following and helping maintain our standard recipes
• Preparing and presenting food to a consistently high standard
• Serving customers and creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere
• Preparing drinks and café orders
• Opening and/or closing the café when required
• Keeping the café, kitchen and food-preparation areas clean and organised
• Monitoring stock and helping reduce food waste
• Taking pride in how our food and cake displays look
• Helping us develop new seasonal bakes and ideas as the café grows

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need to be a professional pastry chef. We’re much more interested in someone who genuinely enjoys baking, takes pride in their work and can be relied upon.

You’ll be a great fit if you

• Love baking and are confident making cakes from scratch
• Are dependable — if you’re scheduled to open, we need to know you’ll be there
• Care about quality — presentation, cleanliness, consistency and how customers are treated
• Can work independently; there will be times you’re trusted to run the café without constant supervision
• Enjoy people — we want customers to feel comfortable, remembered and genuinely welcome
• Want to grow with us as we build systems, expand the menu and develop 13 Weeks Café

A little about 13 Weeks Café

13 Weeks Café isn’t a big chain. We’re an independent Cambridge café built around good food, great coffee and better moments. Alongside our burgers, rice bowls, toasties and jacket potatoes, our cakes and baked treats have become an important part of what customers come back for.
